The Nortel NTFW01FD is an STM-16 long-reach transmit card for the Nortel TN-16X SDH transmission platform, operating at 1310nm over SC-connectored fibre and sharing the NTFW01-prefixed part-number family with the independently-confirmed NTFW01DB, NTFW01AB and NTFW01EB sibling transmit cards. The TN-16X is an SDH add-drop multiplexer platform used to carry STM-16 (2.5Gbps) traffic across metro and regional transmission networks, and its long-reach transmit cards provide the optical output stage needed for unamplified spans of tens of kilometres. TN-16X equipment remains deployed across a number of established SDH transmission networks, and genuine transmit cards such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full ring capacity.
