The ADVA 0063302301 is a multirate WDM channel module for the ADVA FSP-3000, the Extended Reach variant of the 2.5 Gbit/s multirate card family. “Multirate” means the card accepts more than one client protocol at up to 2.5 Gbit/s, such as Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel or SDH/SONET STM16/OC-48, and converts whichever one is connected onto a fixed DWDM wavelength for transport across the line fibre.

The Extended Reach build uses higher-power optics than the standard card so it can close a longer unamplified or lightly amplified span, which matters on metro rings that run further between sites than the base card was designed for.
