The ADVA AL-UM-MLS-S2M is a multi-rate low-speed channel card supporting 100-155Mbps client signals over singlemode fibre at 1300nm, for ADVA’s FSP2000/FSP3000 metro DWDM transport platform. Unlike the higher-rate 2.5G channel modules elsewhere in ADVA’s range, this card is aimed at lower-bandwidth client circuits such as Fast Ethernet or STM-1/OC-3-class SDH/SONET, carried over the DWDM line side at a 1300nm singlemode local interface. It is used where a metro DWDM ring needs to carry a mix of traffic rates, with this card handling the lower end of that mix without dedicating a full-rate 2.5G channel module to a circuit that does not need the capacity. The AL- part number prefix reflects this card’s origin in an earlier product generation carried forward into the current FSP range.
