The Alcatel 3AG24371AA is an ES64SC card for the Alcatel-Lucent 1678 MCC (Metro Core Connect) optical transport platform. It is a service/line card that installs in the traffic slots of the 1678 MCC shelf and operates alongside the node’s matrix and controller cards to carry client traffic across the shelf’s SDH/SONET and packet transport fabric.

The 1678 MCC combines add/drop multiplexing, cross-connect, wideband/broadband and data services in a single high-density shelf that scales to hundreds of Gbit/s per node, and cards such as the ES64SC provide the client-side interfaces within that architecture. It is used in metro aggregation and regional or core transport networks.

Part of the Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) optical portfolio, this card is legacy equipment still deployed to maintain and expand existing 1678 MCC installations.
