The Alcatel 3AL81295AA is a P16S16 tributary board for the Alcatel-Lucent 1678 MCC (Metro Core Connect) optical transport platform. It provides sixteen STM-16/OC-48 (2.5 Gbit/s) traffic ports through pluggable optical modules, allowing the shelf to aggregate and cross-connect multiple 2.5 Gbit/s SDH/SONET streams.

As a port card, the P16S16 installs in the traffic slots of the 1678 MCC shelf and works alongside the matrix and controller cards to build high-capacity metro and regional transport rings and meshes. The 1678 MCC scales to hundreds of Gbit/s per shelf, and the P16S16 contributes dense STM-16 access within that architecture.

Part of the Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) optical portfolio, this board is legacy equipment still used to maintain and expand existing 1678 MCC networks.
