The ALCATEL 3AL78856BA is an S-4.1N single-port STM-4 optical interface card for the Alcatel-Lucent 1660SM synchronous digital hierarchy platform, terminated with an FC/PC connector. It provides a short-haul optical aggregate or tributary port operating at the STM-4 (622 Mbit/s) rate within the 1310nm window, allowing the 1660SM shelf to add and drop STM-4 traffic on metro and access rings. The card is part of the S-4/L-4 family of single-port optical interfaces used across the 1640FOX, 1650SM-C and 1660SM product range, sharing a common mechanical and electrical design with the longer-reach L-4.1N and L-4.2N variants but optimised for shorter spans where lower launch power is sufficient.
