The Alcatel PS-225W-AC-P is a modular 225W AC backup power supply for a single PoE-enabled OmniSwitch 6250 access switch. It slots into the OS6250’s backup power bay and takes over automatically if the switch’s main supply fails, keeping both the switch and the PoE-powered devices connected to it running through the outage. Because the OS6250 is a PoE access switch, its backup supply also has to cover the power drawn by connected phones, access points and cameras, not just the switch electronics, which is why this is a higher-wattage unit than the equivalent non-PoE backup PSUs used on other OmniSwitch models.
