The Avaya TN556D (part number 846969954, also referenced as 108267097) is a 12-port ISDN-BRI 4-Wire S/T-NT Interface circuit pack for Avaya DEFINITY and Communication Manager systems. It presents twelve 4-wire S/T interfaces that connect ISDN Basic Rate Interface terminals to the PBX, with each port carrying two B-channels and one D-channel at 192 kbps and supporting multipoint configurations of up to 24 terminals.

The card uses ANSI T1.605 signalling and reaches up to 1900 feet from the system to the terminal, and up to eight of its ports can be assigned to Adjunct Switch Application Interface (ASAI) links. The TN556D is primarily a line-side (station) interface for ISDN terminals, though it can also operate in tie-trunk mode when connected to a TE interface such as a TN2185B in another switch.
