Avaya WL81WCa16e5 P-series/Cajun switching and IP Office telephony Optical Transmission Module

The Avaya WL81WCa16e5 is a WLAN 8180 wireless LAN controller (also known as WC8180), providing 12 Gigabit ports (a mix of RJ45 copper and SFP fibre) for connecting access points and uplinking to the core network, with this variant supporting up to 16 access points. The WLAN 8180 range also includes higher-capacity variants supporting more access points on the same controller hardware, so the AP licence or model suffix determines actual capacity rather than the physical unit alone. It originates from Nortel’s wireless LAN business, carried forward through Avaya’s 2009 acquisition of Nortel’s enterprise networking assets. This is the correct spare for restoring a failed controller or expanding wireless LAN capacity in an existing 8180-based deployment. Specifiers should confirm their required AP count and existing controller firmware before ordering. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) stocks and tests this as part of its refurbished Avaya range, for maintenance and expansion of existing WLAN 8180 deployments.
