The Ericsson MMU2 4-8 is a modem and modulator unit within Ericsson’s MINI-LINK point-to-point microwave transmission system, part of the same MMU2 family confirmed to include capacity-denoted variants such as the MMU2 4-34 (34+2 Mbit/s). Following Ericsson’s MMU2 naming convention, the “4-8” designation denotes a lower nominal traffic capacity than the 4-34 variant, intended for smaller-capacity microwave hops.

Like other MMU2 units, it modulates digital traffic onto the radio-frequency carrier for transmission and demodulates the received signal, with capacity and frequency bandwidth software-configurable up to its rated maximum. It plugs into an Ericsson AMM equipment magazine alongside a node processor and power units, interfacing to an outdoor radio unit (RAU) to complete a microwave hop.
