The HP 405920-001 is the spare part number for the QMH2462 4Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter, a QLogic-built dual-port mezzanine card for c-Class BladeSystem server blades. Rather than using a standard PCI slot, it mounts on the blade’s mezzanine connector and routes its two 4Gb Fibre Channel ports through the enclosure backplane to the interconnect bays, which is what allows a blade to reach the SAN without any external cabling of its own.

The two ports are normally split across redundant fabrics so the loss of one interconnect module or fabric does not take the blade’s storage offline. It auto-negotiates to 2Gb and 1Gb for older fabrics. The c-Class platform postdates HP’s 2002 absorption of Compaq, so this is an HP-era part.
