The HP J4819-80099 is a ProCurve Switch 5308xl, an 8-slot modular Layer 3/4 chassis switch from HP’s ProCurve 5300xl series, sold under base part number J4819A. The chassis takes ProCurve xl-series line cards and management modules across its eight slots, giving a site a scalable core or aggregation switch that can be reconfigured with different port densities and media types (copper, fibre, PoE) as needed rather than being fixed at purchase. The 5300xl range was HP’s mid-to-high-end modular enterprise switching platform through the 2000s, and chassis of this kind remain in service in networks that have standardised on ProCurve xl-series cards and have not migrated to a newer modular platform.
