The HP 321148-001 is a GbE2 Interconnect Switch (Port Aggregator) for the ProLiant BL p-Class blade server enclosure, fitted internally to BL20p G2 and BL35p blade chassis to aggregate Gigabit Ethernet connectivity from the installed server blades onto a small number of external uplinks. Rather than a standalone rack switch, it is purpose-built blade infrastructure: it slots into the p-Class enclosure’s interconnect bay and handles the internal fabric between blades and the enclosure’s external network ports, reducing the cable count that would otherwise be needed for each blade’s individual NIC. HP’s p-Class blade enclosures of this generation remain in service in a number of established data centre deployments, and genuine interconnect switches such as this one are routinely required to restore full enclosure capacity after a failure or to complete a partially populated chassis.
