The HP AM868A is a StorageWorks 8/24 SAN Switch, a 1U Fibre Channel fabric switch that ships with 16 active ports and scales to a maximum of 24 enabled ports on a pay-as-you-grow basis. Ports auto-sense 1, 2, 4 and 8 Gbps Fibre Channel devices, giving backward compatibility with existing SAN infrastructure.

The switch delivers full 8 Gbps non-blocking, full-duplex performance across an aggregate switch bandwidth of 384 Gbps, and can be deployed either as a full-fabric switch or in Access Gateway mode for connecting into an existing SAN fabric. Availability features include no single point of failure and hot code load for non-disruptive firmware updates.
