The Huawei SSN1PIU is a Power Interface Unit for the Huawei OptiX OSN 3500 optical transport platform (and related OSN1500B/2500/7500 subracks). The PIU board accepts a -48V DC power input and provides power access, lightning protection and filtering functions before delivering regulated power to the subrack backplane. A standard OSN3500 empty subrack ships with two SSN1PIU units fitted as a matter of course, giving 1+1 power redundancy alongside an SSN1AUX auxiliary interface board. With a maximum power consumption of around 6W, the SSN1PIU is a low-power but essential component, and a common replacement part when diagnosing subrack power faults on Huawei SDH/OTN transport equipment.
