The IBM 00P5684 is an Ultra320 SCSI 4-pack disk backplane or drive cage, providing four hot-swap Ultra320 SCSI drive bays wired to a shared backplane connector for IBM RS/6000 and pSeries storage enclosures of that generation. Ultra320 4-packs of this type were IBM’s standard internal disk bay unit before SAS took over the platform, letting a system or expansion drawer take four hot-swappable drives without individual cabling per bay.
