The IBM 12R8317 is a Bulk Power Regulator, BPR-MPF variant, part of the BPR-MP AC-DC power conversion family, including 15R6711. It converts incoming AC mains into the regulated DC bulk voltage a zSeries or Power Systems high-end frame distributes onward to its processor and I/O drawers, and is fitted as part of a redundant N+1 set.
