The IBM 15R9477 is an OSA-Express4S 10 Gigabit Ethernet LR card, CCIN 57E5, ordered as IBM feature code 0406. OSA (Open Systems Adapter) cards give IBM System z mainframes their direct Ethernet connections, combining the channel and network port functions in one feature, so the mainframe can reach LAN and data centre networks without a separate network server in between.

The LR (long reach) version runs 10GBASE-LR over single-mode fibre, for links between buildings or across a large data centre where short-reach multimode cabling would not go far enough. IBM defines it for the OSD and OSX channel path types. The same 57E5 card also appears under IBM part numbers 41T8417 and 45D8650.
