The IBM 39J2557 is a processor power regulator (VRM), part of the IBM 7875 CPU voltage-regulator family that also includes 39J0471, 39J0473 and 42R7629 – the same feature family confirmed for the Power 570 (9117-570/9406-570) and Power 561 systems. A VRM in this class converts the drawer’s bulk DC rail down to the tight, high-current voltage each processor module actually needs, and a worn or failing unit is one of the more common causes of a processor card refusing to initialise.
