The IBM 39J4998 is a PCI-X DDR dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI adapter, feature 1912 (also shipped as FC 0647, 5736 and 5775, CCIN 571A). The adapter provides two independent Ultra320 SCSI channels, each running at up to 320MBps, and each channel can be configured for internal or external attachment but not both simultaneously; it uses low-voltage differential (LVD) drivers only and terminates externally through a pair of VHDCI 68-pin connectors. This was IBM’s standard high-performance SCSI adapter across Power5, Power6 and Power7-generation servers before SAS became the default internal storage interconnect.
