The IBM 42D0496 is a dual-port 8Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter on a PCI Express card, CCIN 577D and feature code EL58, built on the Emulex LPe12002 design with LC connectors and shortwave laser optics, and operating at 2, 4 or 8 Gbps. Auto-negotiation down to the slower rates is what lets a card of this generation attach to a fabric built around earlier switches. It is cross-referenced with 42D0494 and 42D0500, and the same adapter is also sold under the Lenovo brand. Confirm the slot type and the optics your fabric presents before ordering.
