The IBM 44X1924 is a Brocade 20-port 8Gb SAN Switch Module built for the IBM BladeCenter H chassis. It is a hot-pluggable Fibre Channel switch module that slots directly into a BladeCenter H bay, providing 20 SFP-based 8Gb/s Fibre Channel ports, typically shipped with five SFP transceiver slots populated, to connect the blade servers in that chassis into a wider SAN fabric. Brocade built the switch hardware; IBM sold it under its own BladeCenter part number as an OEM-supplied module. It remains a routine requirement for BladeCenter H deployments still running Fibre Channel storage, whether replacing a failed switch module or adding a second switch bay for a redundant fabric path.
