The IBM 80P4702 is a 56Kb/s internal PCI fax modem card built for IBM’s Hardware Management Console (HMC), the dedicated appliance used to configure and manage IBM Power Systems and pSeries servers. Fitted inside the HMC’s own PCI slot, the modem provides a dial-up path for IBM’s Electronic Service Agent and Call Home features, letting the HMC automatically report hardware faults back to IBM support on sites without that role handled by network-based reporting instead.
