The JDSU JSP12S0AA1 is a 1000BASE-SX pluggable optical transceiver. It carries Gigabit Ethernet at 850 nm over multimode fibre, the standard short-reach optic for switch uplinks and server connections inside a building or campus. Achievable distance depends on the grade of multimode fibre installed rather than on the module itself, so a run that fails on older 62.5 micron cable may work on 50 micron. SFP optics are hot-pluggable, so one can be swapped without powering down the host switch.
