The Newtec DVB 2077, from Newtec’s NTC/2077 range, is a DVB-compliant satellite modulator that generates the modulated IF carrier for digital broadcast or data transmission over satellite, accepting an MPEG transport stream or IP input and applying the standard DVB-S forward error correction and framing for interoperability with DVB-compliant receivers. As with other units in Newtec’s NTC/2000-series, it is designed for rack mounting at the head end of the transmit chain, feeding the upconverter ahead of the high power amplifier, and was used by broadcasters, teleports and satellite network operators for digital TV distribution and IP-over-satellite services through the 2000s.
