Newtec was founded in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and became a specialist designer of satellite communications equipment for broadcast, VSAT, government, cellular backhaul and maritime markets. ST Engineering acquired the company in October 2019 and it now trades as ST Engineering iDirect Europe. Newtec’s DVB range covered the modulators and demodulators at either end of a digital satellite broadcast link, together with the redundancy switches that move a live carrier onto standby equipment automatically if a unit fails, and the converters that translate between L-band and standard intermediate frequencies. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Newtec hardware including DVB satellite modulators and demodulators, redundancy and protection switches, and L-band converters.
