The Nortel 34008-S is a Quad BRI (ISDN Basic Rate, S/T interface) net module for the Access Stack Node (ASN) router platform, adding four ISDN BRI S/T ports to an ASN chassis for dial backup, low-speed WAN links or ISDN-terminated branch connections. The ASN was Nortel/Bay Networks’ modular branch-office router of the mid-to-late 1990s, built around swappable net modules covering Ethernet, Token Ring, serial, ISDN and other WAN interfaces on a common carrier chassis, a different and older router platform from the BayStack Ethernet switch family also covered in this listing despite sharing the Nortel/Bay Networks badge.
