The Nortel NTFT21AAE5 is an AC/DC power unit for the Nortel TN-1X/TN-1C SDH transmission platform, part of the same NTFT-prefixed card family as the platform’s documented add-drop multiplexer, rack-alarm and tributary cards. It converts the shelf’s incoming AC or DC feed to the regulated internal rails the TN-1X/TN-1C card complement needs, and sits alongside the transmit, receive and control cards in the same subrack.

TN-1X/TN-1C systems are STM-1/STM-4-class SDH add-drop multiplexers used to grow and groom tributary traffic onto the SDH ring at metro and access sites, and their shelves are populated with power, control and interface cards to suit each site’s configuration. Installations on this platform remain in service on a number of established transmission networks, and genuine spares such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full shelf redundancy or restoring power after a unit failure.
