Nortel DS1404011-ES: Passport 8616SXE 16-port 1000Base-SX Gigabit routing switch module.

The Nortel DS1404011-ES is a Nortel Passport 8616SXE routing switch module, providing 16 ports of 1000BASE-SX Gigabit Ethernet over MT-RJ fibre connectors. It fits into a compatible Nortel Passport 8600-series chassis to add high-density Gigabit Ethernet fibre connectivity, and was aimed at server farms and other high-bandwidth-per-port applications within the Passport 8600 routing switch platform. The Passport (later Ethernet Routing Switch) 8600 family was Nortel core and aggregation switching platform for enterprise and carrier networks, supporting a wide range of interface modules to match different port-density and media requirements. Passport 8600 deployments of this generation remain in service across a number of established enterprise networks, and genuine modules such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full chassis port capacity or replacing a failed module. Specifiers should confirm firmware compatibility against their specific Passport 8600 chassis before ordering. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) stocks Nortel Passport components.
