The Nortel NTCA15GG is an Optical Service Channel (OSC) coupler for Nortel’s Optera Metro / OME 6500 optical transport platform. An OSC coupler splits off the dedicated service-channel wavelength used to carry management and control traffic between shelves, separately from the traffic-bearing wavelengths it also passes through with minimal added loss. It is a standard building block of the platform’s Common Photonic Layer (CPL) optical line system, alongside the amplifier, mux/demux and wavelength-selective-switch modules Tech-Star also carries from the same range.

OME 6500/Optera Metro shelves remain in service across a number of established metro optical transport networks, and genuine spares such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full line-system function and shelf-to-shelf management connectivity.
