Nortel NTCA30MK (telecommunications transmission and networking portfolio) Optical Transmission Module

The Nortel NTCA30MK is an OC-48 DWDM transponder for the OME 6500 optical transport platform, tuned to the 1528.77nm ITU channel. It carries the NTCA30-prefixed part-number family also used for OME 6500 STM-16 short-reach circuit packs, and its role is the same as its NTCA70-family siblings: converting a tributary signal onto a fixed DWDM wavelength so it can be combined with other channels and carried over a shared fibre pair. OME 6500 optical shelves remain active in a number of established metro networks, and genuine DWDM transponder cards such as this one are routinely needed to maintain wavelength capacity or replace a failed unit.
