Nortel NTK555CAE5 009 Ciena Optical Transport Telecom System Card / Module

The Ciena NTK555CAE5 is an SP-2 Shelf Processor for the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, supporting the 7-slot and 14-slot (6500-7/14) shelf types. It is the control and management module of the shelf rather than a traffic-carrying line card.

The shelf processor runs the network element software and handles provisioning, alarm reporting and inventory management, while coordinating the line cards and photonic modules installed alongside it. Working with the shelf access panel, it provides the OAM&P interface through which operators configure and monitor the node.

The NTK555CAE5 is part of Ciena’s established 6500 portfolio and is widely deployed across metro and long-haul optical networks. Refurbished units offer a practical route to spares provisioning and like-for-like replacement in operational 6500 shelves.
