Nortel NTK505CEE5 004 Ciena Optical Transport Power Supply

The Ciena NTK505CEE5 is a 40A breakered DC power input card for the OME 6500 Packet-Optical Platform. It feeds two-wire -48V DC into the shelf through an integrated 40A circuit breaker, protecting the shelf power rail at the point the supply enters the chassis.

Mounted in the shelf power-interface position, the card distributes filtered DC power across the backplane to the line cards, control modules and cooling units housed in the shelf. As a breakered input interface rather than a DC-to-DC converter, its role is to isolate and protect the incoming supply, which is essential for safe, maintainable powering of carrier-grade optical equipment.

The NTK505CEE5 is part of Ciena’s established 6500 portfolio. It remains in demand for maintaining or expanding deployed 6500 shelves, where a matching breakered power input card is needed to bring the node into service.
