3Com 3C17710 SuperStack 3 Switch 4900 Series Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The 3Com 3C17710 is a 4-port 1000Base-SX expansion module for the 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4900 family and compatible Switch 40×0 series units. It adds four Gigabit Ethernet ports over multimode fibre using MT-RJ connectors, giving a fixed-configuration SuperStack 3 switch a fibre uplink or short-haul backbone option without needing an external transceiver or media converter. This is a common way to link SuperStack 3 4900-series switches together over fibre, or to uplink to a fibre-connected core switch, where multimode fibre’s distance range (typically up to around 550m depending on cable grade) suits the deployment. It’s a plug-in module rather than a standalone device, so it slots directly into a module bay on a supported switch. It remains a useful part for organisations extending or replacing modules in an existing SuperStack 3 4900 deployment.
