The IBM 41T8417 is a STOMP2, or Stomper2, 10G LR card – the long-reach optical counterpart to the short-reach 10G SR variant. Stomper2 is IBM’s internal codename for a family of Ethernet I/O logic cards fitted to System z and comparable Power I/O drawers; the LR designation means this card carries a long-reach 10 Gigabit Ethernet optical interface intended for longer inter-frame or inter-building links than the SR variant supports. As with the rest of the Stomper2 range, fit is tied to the specific machine generation and I/O drawer configuration, so confirm compatibility against the host frame before ordering. These cards are maintained as field replaceable units on machines that remain in active service long after their original shipment, and genuine spares are needed to restore redundancy or expand network reach after a card failure.
