IBM 00AM383: light path diagnostics operator panel for IBM System x3550 M4 and x3650 M4 servers.

The IBM 00AM383 is a light path diagnostics panel, the front operator information panel for the IBM System x3550 M4 rack server. It is also supplied as part of the Advanced Lightpath kit for the x3650 M4.

The panel sits at the front of the server and carries the light path LEDs that report the state of the system. When a fault occurs, those LEDs help an engineer find the failing component quickly and replace it without guesswork. The part is closely associated with 00AM393, which is fitted to the same servers.

A faulty panel removes that front-of-rack visibility, which makes it a common spare for System x M4 estates still in service.
