The IBM 97P4311 is a processor power regulator (voltage regulator module) supplied under feature code 7875 for the 9117-570 pSeries (Power5 570) system, the same feature and CCIN 51B8 family as the closely related part 97P5678. It converts the system’s DC bus supply into the regulated voltage a processor book needs, fitted per book so a single regulator failure affects only the processor it feeds rather than the whole drawer. IBM’s parts programme reissued this regulator design under several numbers over its service life, including 39J0473, 39J2557 and 42R7629, and 97P4311 is one of those reissues rather than a functionally different part. Regulators of this kind are matched to a specific processor generation and drawer configuration, so confirm the exact machine type and model before ordering.
