The IBM 41U8400 is a Port Card assembly for IBM’s PCIe Gen1 12X I/O Drawer, feature code 5802, the same drawer family as the SAS card assembly 41U8402. The Port Card provides the drawer’s external 12X loop connection back to the host Power Systems server, carrying the PCIe and SAS traffic between the drawer’s internal adapter slots or disk bays and the GX adapter fitted in the host system. It is a distinct assembly from the internal SAS card that addresses the drawer’s own disk bays, and sits alongside the sibling Port Card assemblies of the CCIN 50A2 class. Specifiers should check compatibility against their FC 5802 drawer configuration before ordering.
