The IBM 42R6849 is a GX Dual-Port 12X Channel Single Data Rate (SDR) Host Channel Adapter, IBM feature code 1802, for the 9117-MMA (Power 570) and 8234-EMA host platforms. The adapter fits a system’s GX bus slot and provides the 12X Channel connection used to attach RIO-2/HSL-2 I/O expansion drawers, letting a Power Systems host address additional PCI/PCI-X slots, disk bays and communications adapters beyond its own internal capacity. It connects through the RIO-CBL cable assembly.
