The IBM 45W5689 is a PCIe single-port SAS RAID controller card for the DS8700 CEC (Central Electronics Complex) enclosure. It fits inside the CEC enclosure to provide internal SAS RAID connectivity for the frame’s own storage, separate from the host-facing Fibre Channel adapters.
