The IBM 46A5670 is an 800GB native / 1.6TB compressed LTO Ultrium 4 half-high SAS tape drive, cross-referenced under the alternate part number 46X5670 and the IBM machine type/feature 5746 (CCIN 63A0) in IBM’s own documentation. The half-height 5.25-inch form factor fits IBM System x tower servers and external 1U rack tape enclosures, connecting over SAS.

The drive writes and reads LTO Ultrium 4 media, writes and reads LTO Ultrium 3 media, and reads (but does not write) LTO Ultrium 2 media, giving two generations of backward compatibility for sites migrating tape libraries in stages. IBM rated the generation-4 mechanism at up to roughly 240 MB/s with 2:1 compression, a substantial step up from the LTO-3 half-height drives it replaced.
