The Huawei 0235A10L is an S3600-24-SFP EI Ethernet switch, a 24-port managed switch whose access ports are SFP slots rather than copper, running the Enhanced Interface software variant with its fuller routing and management feature set.

An all-fibre access switch is a specific choice rather than a general one. It suits sites where the horizontal cabling is fibre because of distance, electrical noise or isolation requirements, which in practice means industrial plant, transport and utility installations, and campuses where buildings are far enough apart that copper was never an option. Reach on each port is set by the optic fitted, so the same switch serves short and long runs.

This model has a longer badge history than most. The S3600 line came out of H3C, the Huawei and 3Com joint venture; 3Com later took full ownership, and Hewlett Packard acquired 3Com in 2010, after which the same hardware was sold as the HP A3600-24-SFP EI.
