The Huawei TN11M4001 is an M40 40-channel multiplexing board for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, covering the C-band even grid from 192.10 to 196.00 THz on 100 GHz spacing, built on a temperature-controlled arrayed waveguide grating with LC connectors. It is the transmit-side partner of the TN11D4001 demultiplexer.

The board combines up to forty separate wavelengths, each from its own transponder, onto a single fibre for transmission down the DWDM line. The arrayed waveguide grating that performs the combining is actively temperature stabilised, because the channel centres of an AWG shift with temperature and an unstabilised device would drift off the ITU grid.

Unlike the M40V variant this board has no per-channel attenuators, so channel power has to be equalised elsewhere, either at the transponder outputs or with external attenuation.
