The Sun 594-2388-01 is a single channel Ultra320 SCSI host bus adapter, a card that gives a Sun server one SCSI bus running at up to 320MB/s.

Ultra320 was the last and fastest of the parallel SCSI generations, doubling Ultra160 throughput while remaining backwards compatible with slower devices on the same chain, and adapters like this were the standard way to attach StorEdge disk shelves and tape libraries before SAS and Fibre Channel took that role. Single channel cards are still requested for exactly that reason: a working LTO or DLT library is often the last thing left on a parallel SCSI bus in an otherwise modern rack.
