The HP 405943-001 is the spare part number for the 4Gb Fibre Channel Pass-Thru Module for c-Class BladeSystem enclosures, supplied populated with sixteen 4Gb short-wave SFP transceivers. It is a pass-through rather than a switch: each of the sixteen server bays is mapped to its own external Fibre Channel port, so every blade presents directly to the upstream SAN fabric with no zoning or switching performed inside the enclosure. That suits sites whose fabric policy requires blade HBAs to appear as ordinary fabric nodes on the core switches.

The module occupies one of the enclosure interconnect bays and pairs with a second unit for a redundant dual-fabric layout. The c-Class BladeSystem generation postdates HP’s 2002 absorption of Compaq, so this is an HP-era part.
