The Intel PWLA8494MT is a PRO/1000 MT quad port server adapter, four copper Gigabit Ethernet ports on a single PCI-X card. Each port is an auto negotiating 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 connection, and the four can be teamed in any combination for aggregated throughput, for failover, or to give a virtualised host several separate physical uplinks from one slot.

Fitting four ports on one card was the reason to buy it. A server with a limited number of expansion slots could carry a management network, a data network and a redundant pair without running out of room. HP also resold the Intel card under its own option number, so the part can carry an HP reference. Confirm your slot is PCI-X before ordering. Refurbished.
