The Ciena NTK505PAE5 is an input/output access panel for the OME 6500 7-slot optical shelf. It mounts on the shelf and provides the external fibre and connector access through which photonic modules, such as channel mux/demux (CMD) filters, are cabled into the system.

The access panel routes optical and management connections between the shelf backplane and the front-of-rack cabling, and it pairs with the shelf processor to complete a 7-slot photonic shelf build. This is a passive interconnect and access panel, so it carries no traffic-processing electronics of its own.

The NTK505PAE5 is part of Ciena’s established 6500 shelf infrastructure and is required when maintaining or extending 7-slot photonic deployments where a matching access panel is needed.
