3Com 3CR17450 SuperStack 3 Switch 3870 Series Datacentre Switch

The 3Com 3CR17450 is a 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 3870, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch built for high-performance workgroup and desktop deployments. It combines wire-speed Layer 2 switching with stackability, supporting up to eight units in a single stack via a 40Gbps stacking architecture, for a combined total of up to 384 ports. All 24 ports are auto-sensing 10/100/1000 copper connections for flexible desktop and workgroup attachment, and four of these are dual-purpose with dedicated SFP slots, accepting 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX and 1000BASE-LH transceivers for fibre uplinks over varying distances. This makes the 3870 a practical choice where a site needs to scale Gigabit switching capacity in stages, adding units to the stack as demand grows rather than forklift-upgrading the whole network. It’s a well-regarded part of 3Com’s SuperStack 3 range and remains widely deployed in enterprise LANs still running that stacking architecture.
