The Alcatel 3AL98128AA is an ISA-ES1 8FE Ethernet switch interface module for the Alcatel-Lucent 1660SM compact SDH metro multiplexer platform, also compatible with the related 1670SM, 1678MCC and 1662SMC platforms. It provides 8 Fast Ethernet ports, allowing packet/Ethernet traffic to be carried and switched over the SDH transport ring alongside traditional TDM traffic.

The ISA-ES1 8FE module is part of Alcatel-Lucent’s Ethernet-over-SDH interface card range, enabling carriers and enterprises to add data/Ethernet transport capability to an existing SDH network without a full platform upgrade. A related B hardware revision (ES1-8FEB) is also documented on the same platform family, confirming the ISA-ES1 8FE naming and function for this card line.
