The Huawei SSN1PIUA is a Power Interface Unit (PIU) board for Huawei’s OptiX OSN series of optical transmission platforms, part of the same documented PIU family as the SSN1PIUB already established as a genuine OSN subrack board. The PIU sits in a dedicated power slot within the OSN subrack, connecting to the site’s external -48V DC power feed and distributing it to the chassis’s system control, cross-connect and tributary/line boards, while also providing power status alarm and monitoring functions back to the network management system. OptiX OSN platforms (including the OSN 1500/2500/3500/7500 SDH/WDM family that the SSN1-prefixed board range serves) are widely deployed by network operators for SDH, WDM and OTN optical transport across metro and backbone networks. As a slot-in board, the PIU can be replaced independently of the rest of the subrack during maintenance. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) supplies tested Huawei optical transport boards.
